Rich Merrill

Rich Merrill started his martial arts journey in the 3rd grade. He has studied Judo, Oki Ryu Kenpo and Tang Soo Do. After moving to Austin in 2006, Master Merrill began training in Tang Soo Do Mi Guk Kwan with Sa Bom Nim Nunan. He tested for 4th Degree Black Belt and Master Instructor in 2020 with four of his close friends from Nunan's Martial Arts.

 

When teaching class he focuses on the basics.  Master Merrill believes the work in individual technique shows in other areas of training; especially in forms training. It is a joy to see students grow through their martial arts practice.

Master Merrill is a Software Engineer by day.  He teaches classes in his school, Mountain Top Martial Arts, and at Nunan's Martial Arts weekly.

He and his wife Tina have a son, Willis, who studies Tang Soo Do and has achieved the rank of Black Belt.
